Refocusing On My Goals for the Second Half of 2014

July 2, 2014

We’ve made it through the first half of 2014, and I don’t know about you, but it’s been an amazing and unexpected year around here. It’s also time to refocus!

This year has gone how I planned in many ways:

  • Releasing my first book, Awesome Life Tips
  • Getting a professional photo shoot with an awesome photographer
  • Successfully launching My Awesome Life Mastery™
  • Creating and running Your Passion-Based Business with success
  • Writing several new Awesome Life Guide: Quickies™
  • Expanding my exposure through new opportunities like en*theos

One of my primary goals this year was to write, a whole lot. If there’s anything I feel like I let slip that I’m not happy about, it’s that. Something I’ve known for awhile now is that the key to growing my business in the direction I want to go more quickly is through my writing. Guest blogs, programs, books and ebooks, and regular blog posts. This is why my goals for this year focused so heavily around writing.

So as I look forward towards the second half of the year, I’m getting honest with myself about the fact that I’ve fallen short in this area. Am I beating myself up about it? Absolutely not, because I’ve accomplished a ton this year and my focus was pulled in some unexpected directions, which is perfectly awesome. But when I think about what I set out to accomplish, this is still incredibly important to my personal and business goals for the year. So I’m refocusing with a shortlist of goals:

November is well known as NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), where you set out to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. It’s also the month where non-fiction writers focus on Contentpalooza, which is simply writing 50,000 words on content alongside their NaNoWriMo counterparts. I’ve done Contentpalooza once and loved it, in fact, Foundations for Unshakable Joy was completed thanks to it! This year, I’m going to use November to write the first draft of my second book. I have a couple ideas as to what that book should be, but I’m not entirely sure how it will pan out… but we’ll see what I come up with at the end of November!

My second priority is to turn my writing into a product line, which has been a goal for over a year now. This is secondary to actually writing of course, but I have a vision for some beautiful and inspiring products that combine my love of personal development, mixed media art, awesome things, and writing. Being realistic and stretching myself a tiny bit (knowing how much I have going on this year), I’m aiming to have 5 pieces completed for that product collection this year.

That’s it for me, what about you?

Take a moment to think about the goals you set back in January and assess how things have gone. Maybe you’ve accomplished some things, maybe you haven’t… either way, think about what’s left to do that still really matters to you. You’re free to discard any goals or plans you had in January if they no longer resonate! But if they do, how can you refocus for the remainder of the year to create what you desire?
