Affirmations Don’t Work

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you read one of those everything-happens-for-a-reason quotes? I’ll tell you what happens to me: a massive eye roll.

You know as well as I do that you don’t get the good life just by adding more think-pink quotes to your vision board. Watery affirmations aren’t what bring about change by themselves, even if you religiously say them out loud in front of the mirror every morning.

Convincing yourself that everything’s fine – when in reality, your world’s falling apart – is the EXACT opposite of what you should be doing (and yet, led by self-proclaimed “gurus”, we’ve all done just that at some point!)

Don’t deny yourself the experience of feeling an emotion just because it feels uncomfortable. Let yourself feel. It’s not as scary as you think and I promise you WILL survive it.

Working through the uncomfortable emotions, as opposed to ignoring them, is the only way to make some real, tangible progress.
