I’ve lived in Colorado a total of eight years now and have never been camping here. I know.

But this past week I finally remedied that with my first trip to camp off the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway just outside Georgetown. It was gorgeous. We set up camp with a view of snow covered Mt. Bierstadt and there were stunning sights all around. Walking the byway was breathtaking.

We built a campfire that actually got better when it hailed, made s’mores, chatted about life until the wee hours of the morning, and then bundled up for a cold night in the tent. It was the best. There’s nothing quite like being in nature when life feels crazy and busy and overwhelming. It’s so calm and quiet and rejuvenating.

It was a great escape, and I’m ready for more!
