Healing in Sharing the Stories

December 30, 2019

Writing The Unravel Book, telling this story… it’s been a huge part of my healing.

I wish I could tell you that healing is as straightforward as others like to make it sound. You start from point A – grief – and after a while, you arrive at point B – happiness. You let time do its thing.

Sure, time does its thing, but only if you do yours.

The journey from grief to happiness has many more roadblocks than you’d expect. It involves a lot more of the deep, challenging self-work than you’d like. And at times, growing out of grief can be harder than grief itself.

If I’m completely honest with you here, I’m not sure it ever ends. There will always be a little part of me – a little part of my heart – that is still heartbroken, and I’m not sure it’s ever going to mend.

But the cliché is true: there’s light at the end of the tunnel. It just takes some time and intention to get there, and the journey isn’t just a simple stroll forward.

You will heal too.
You will be happy again.
You will find a new sense of wholeness.
You will step into what comes next.

And maybe, just maybe, you tell your story, so others heal from it too.

But it will take time.
