You’re Not Doing it Right (And Neither Are “They”)

marketing-correctly

Over the years I’ve gotten to know, work with, or follow along with people who are (or are becoming) “big names” in their respective online circles. While many are amazing souls doing phenomenal work in the world, there’s something I’ve been noticing that I simply can’t keep quiet about.

As many people grow and move into a space where they can be more effortless in their marketing (because they’ve reached that tipping point of putting themselves out there, being known, connecting with the right partners and opportunities, etc), they start to basically shame or look down on people for using the same exact tactics they used to get to where they are today. Literally the same things you would have seen them doing a year or three earlier.

…etc.

Beyond that, they’ve managed to move into such a state of ease and abundance that they forget what it’s like to be at the start. With no followers. With no clients. With no word of mouth or opportunities or ideal partners promoting them at every turn.

Don’t get me wrong, this is AWESOME for them.

This kind of effortlessness, ease, and abundance is earned through hard work… and  I have no doubts that every single one hustled hard to get to where they are today. That said, what they’re doing isn’t of service to the people who follow along and want to build something of their own if they’re actively “making wrong” things that aren’t necessarily wrong for everyone.

There is no one way.
There is no right way.
There is no better.
There is no worse.
There is certainly no shame for trying.

And the fact of the matter is, the longer you’re at this and the larger you grow your audience and reach, the easier it becomes to do whatever you want. It’s easier to grow a client base without an opt-in offer and marketing funnel when you have hundreds of articles and podcast interviews and satisfied clients directing new people your way.

This is the work we do inside Your Passion-Based Business™.

Build something as unique as you are. Put the foundational pieces in place to support growth. Connect with your deep why and what’s true for you. Learn to trust your intuition above all else. Stop trying to copy or model everyone else. Use “things” as they fit with your vision and personality.

Do the work and see what feels aligned for YOU.

There are people who are ridiculously successful that don’t use video marketing, and there are many who do. There are people who are ridiculously successful who don’t have opt-in offers, and there are many who do. There are people who are ridiculously successful that don’t sell programs, and there are many who do. I could go on and on with this.

None of them are better.
None of them are right.

They are all doing what works for them.

For their audience.
For their personality.
For their vision.

And I guarantee they all tried a wide variety of things to grow.

Eyes on your own paper.

Focus on your own vision and passions.
Stop following other people if you must.
Stop looking outside yourself.
Turn inward.
Everything is already there.

And if you’re stuck, let me know and we can work on helping you use that inner knowing and vision you already hold to move through any blocks. If you’re feeling like you’re building something “too generic” post here, email me, show up to Office Hours or get some 1:1 coaching time with me.

You can do this without outside influence.
I promise.
