Read This Before You Declare Your Business a Failure!

June 10, 2021

You’ve spent days and weeks and months developing something you believed to be the best thing ever.

You’ve invested not only time but a good chunk of your savings as well.

You did a leap of faith only to discover that… well, let’s just say that you didn’t get the response you were hoping for.

Does this mean your business is doomed? You’re not cut from the same cloth as other entrepreneurs? You need to go back to your old 9-to-5?

Not in the slightest—and here’s what you need to know before you label your business as a failure!

Your Business is NOT a Failure…

…your business is just navigating some murky waters! You need guidance, not a trip back to the port.

If this is your first time ever launching a business, it’s *somewhat* expected you won’t hit the nail on the head right away. There’s a lot more to a successful business than just the right idea! (And, some ideas take time to really bring to life!)

Instead of abandoning your business idea altogether, there are a few alternatives you may want to explore first. Or in other words, you’ll be shifting the way you think and do business.

Here’s how you can shift the way you think and do business…

Talk to your audience

Before you even write a single word of copy or develop any paid product, spend some time mingling with your audience. Knowing your audience—and I mean really knowing it—is the best foundation on which you can build your business.

Do a few surveys, jump on a few calls, ask them about the biggest problems they encounter on a daily basis that you can solve… anything to help you gain some better insights. Then use your findings to propel your business forward.

Of course, it goes without saying that in order to get the right answers, you need to be asking the right questions. To do this, I suggest spending time crafting the perfect way to deliver your message and discover what you really need.

Pro tip: Are you part of your target audience? Even better! Use that to your advantage. People love nothing more than being able to identify with the business they’re working with.

Change the way you tell your business story

Every business tells a story… and if you think your business isn’t telling any, think again. 😉

Your business story should be at the core of your marketing strategy. After all, your story is present in everything you do – all the way from your business branding to the way you show up on social media.

Still not sure what’s the best way to tell your story? For starters, keep it simple. Simply tell the world why you do what you do. Start with why! What made you WANT to do this? What inspired you to make this change?

While you’re at it, here’s a little reminder that ideally, you’ll find a way to make your client the hero of your story. After all, that’s why you’re here—to help and support your clients write their own successful story.

Pro tip: Crafting the right story altogether with the right messaging can create a massive difference in the way your business is perceived!

Invest in a mentor

Working with the right mentor may prove to be the biggest turning point for your business.

Wondering how?

It’s simple really: the perfect mentor won’t only guide you to find the best possible solutions to the problems you’re currently facing but they’ll also help you change your mindset.

Pivoting from a mindset of “This is not working” to “How do I make this work?” Will most likely turn out to be the biggest and most significant change that’s going to make you a successful entrepreneur.
