Gratitude is Powerful When Used Correctly

January 23, 2019

I hear from people all the time… people hanging on by a thread. People who are fighting like hell to find their footing, yet are only finding coaches and programs and bodies of work reinforcing the belief that they’re broken. Work that says, ‘just be positive and grateful’. Work that asks them to find the lessons and the gifts well before it’s even possible to identify them.

Work that asks them to bypass.
To skip right on past the important parts.

I talk a lot about ‘doing the work’, but what is it actually?

It’s facing into and moving through whatever needs to be felt, expressed, and fully experienced. It’s tracing the storyline and understanding your subconscious blocks and beliefs, the ones that run the show even though you think you have free will. It’s identifying and untangling the strategies you’ve put in place to ‘win’ at life. To stay safe, loved, successful, and secure. It’s learning to trust yourself and your intuition above all else. To have faith that no matter what, you will be okay, simply because you choose to be.

The work isn’t easy.
So far from it.

But bypassing it with polished positivity is, which is why so many preach gratitude and good vibes only.

Gratitude is a powerful tool… when used fully. Because there are some things you will never experience gratitude around without also feeling your heart break open a little bit more. Some things will always bring you to your knees, despite the lessons and the gifts and regardless of the growth.

It doesn’t mean you’re broken or doing it wrong.
You’re actually just doing the work.

Carry on, friend. And don’t believe anyone who tells you that you need to ‘just be positive’. You’ll uncover the lessons and the gifts when it’s time, and not a moment sooner.
