If you take a better look at your favorite coaches, speakers, and writers, you’ll notice that even though they probably work in different industries, they have a few things in common.
Here’s how to position yourself as an authority in your niche and grow your business by becoming a thought leader!
Be aware who you’re here to serve
Getting noticed is good. Getting noticed by the right people is what’s going to bring you some traction!
That’s why you have to know to who you’re talking. But really know it – not just things like demographics but pain points, fears, burning desires, to name a few.
Also, make it easy for your audience to relate to you. What’s the biggest struggle you’ve gone through? How can you use your story to inspire others? Who can benefit the most from your teaching?

Share your knowledge
There’s no other way around – experts and thought leaders are loved and praised for the knowledge and expertise they bring to the table.
And the easiest way to share your knowledge is to help others. In this case, help your target audience with any dilemmas or struggles they may have!
Of course, you don’t have to share ALL of it for free – leave the secret ingredients for paying clients! 😉

Here are several ways to help you get started:
- Start a blog on your website
- Record videos, vlogs, and tutorials
- Start a podcast
- Create a short lead magnet – e-book, spreadsheet, etc.
- Host a workshop at your local café
Offer a peek inside your character
Thought leaders are well-loved not only for the skills they have but for the values they possess as well.
Don’t be afraid to show bits and pieces of who you are and what you believe in. People love nothing more than to see and hear you are human, just like them!
As I already mentioned, don’t be stingy about sharing your story with the world.
Not sure what that story is?
Everyone has a story – and everyone’s story is as remarkable as they are. Just talk about who you are and how you got here. That’s more than enough to inspire at least ONE person!
Build a community
Once you start helping others with your expertise, a magical thing happens: people start telling other people about you! Then those people tell their friends and before you know it – you’ve grown a nice little community!
The word-of-mouth brand ambassadors you have are an excellent sign you’re on the right way. After all, no one tells their friends about you if you’re not any good! 😉
And the real win?
When members of your community start growing alongside YOU by being taught and inspired by your words and actions!
