The Choosing Is the Hardest Part

May 23, 2017

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a thousand times more: the choosing is the hardest part, because it has to happen every single moment of every single day. Choosing to heal, to rise up, to walk through the pockets that hurt like hell so you can find the lessons and the gifts that lie just on the other side. Choosing a new story, a new path, a new way of being.

Every moment you’re faced with a choice: stay with what’s familiar and known, or step into something new and challenging and all things uncomfortable. The biggest choice of all is the choice to let go of who you knew yourself to be, so that you can step into who you’re meant to become.

It sounds pretty and inspiring as words on the screen, but it’s not pretty at all. It’s hard. It’s confusing. It’s frustrating. Until one day it starts becoming a little easier, a little more second nature. Until the memory of who you used to be is just that… a memory. Because you’ve found your footing inside a new way of being, living, loving, and creating. You’ve learned to face forward in a new direction, rather than trying to bulldoze your way through to a path that no longer exists.

It takes choice.

Every moment of every day.

To let go of what used to be.
To stay in this moment, exactly as you are
To learn a new way of being.

Keep choosing it.
I promise it gets easier.
