Perfectionism Holds You Back

Is perfectionism holding you back?

Here’s how it usually goes: You wait for the perfect time to start moving things forward. You wait for the perfect plan to start taking action. You wait for… well, for the perfect day… the day when you “feel like” doing something about what you want or need.

But to heal, grow, create real transformation, and do the impossible, you don’t have to be perfect. You have to be willing to be imperfect.

The truth is, perfectionism boils down to fear.

The fear of making mistakes.
The fear of getting hurt.
The fear of being wrong.
The fear of being rejected.
The fear of not being good enough.

But the truth is, no amount of perfectionism can save you from these things. You’re going to make mistakes, it’s inevitable. It’s also how we learn and grow. You’re going to get hurt or hurt someone else as you find your footing in a new way of being. You’re going to get it wrong sometimes. Not everyone will like, love, or choose you. And to become a master, you have to be willing to be a not-so-great beginner.

So let go of the need to be perfect.
Be brave, be daring, and make some mistakes.
Write the “crappy” first draft and fumble around a bit.

You’ll find your footing in time.
And the end result will be SO worth it.
